Andrew Portocarrero is executive vice president of the World Security Institute, a non-profit think-tank and media organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. Drew has had a life-long concern about nuclear weapons dangers. His organization leads the international ‘Global Zero’ movement that includes 300 political, military, business and faith leaders—and hundreds of thousands of citizens—working for the phase, verified elimination of all nuclear weapons worldwide. Before joining WSI in 2005, he worked as a consultant to numerous non-profit organizations, and was co-founder of the Russia-based Conversion for the Environment foundation. He worked at the Brookings Institution from 1988 to 1997, spending 1992 as U.S. representative to the Russian parliament. He has a BA in government from Franklin & Marshall College, and MA in international affairs from the University of Denver.
