AID Chapter Resources

AID provides a number of resources exclusively to schools with AID chapters or chapters-in-progress. These resources make it easier to organize events and also make it possible to organize better events. Some of the unique resources that are available to AID chapters are:

  • Mini-Grants: We provide mini-grants for chapters that want to host town hall or videoconference events. These mini-grants, which are currently as large as $150 depending on the anticipated size of your event, allow you to get refreshments, purchase an ad in your school newspaper or cover any other costs associated with putting the event on.
  • Skill-Set Development: We host leadership summits across the country each month for globally conscious young leaders. The summits feature workshops, speakers, and discussions to equip students with the tools to raise global awareness more effectively on their campus. Officers of AID Chapters can attend any of these summits without a formal application.
  • Leadership Opportunities: AID offers opportunities to take a leadership role in its central organization, including serving as a Regional Director for the organization. This includes a free trip to AID’s headquarters in New Haven for the regional director training workshops and the resources and support to plan a conference at your university. The Regional Director position is only open to leaders of AID groups on campus.
  • Speakers from “Inside the Beltway” on Your Campus: In addition to our speaker databases for each initiative, we also arrange for many expert speakers from Washington, D.C. to visit our chapters for free.
  • Letters of Recommendation: AID writes letters of recommendation for its campus leaders. Over the last year, AID staff wrote recommendations or served as a reference for more than one hundred and fifty campus leaders. These leaders went on to win prestigious fellowships (such as the Marshall Scholarship), get in to top graduate schools (such as Harvard), and obtain positions with leading NGOs and institutions (such as Teach for America).
  • Help Publicizing Your Event: AID will help circulate your press release and e-mail announcement on your campus and community, which will help ensure strong turnout and media coverage of your event.
  • Our Organizers’ Toolkits: For all of our initiatives, we have put together comprehensive organizers toolkits that walk you through every step of organizing a successful event on your campus.
  • Comprehensive Chapter Box: Annually we will send you a comprehensive package that includes tote bags (for carrying posters), tape, pins, chalk, clip boards, posters, and other free goodies to hand out at events to kick start your year of organizing.
