Peace and Security Overview

The Peace and Security initiative promotes dialogue and campaigns that further causes of international collective action towards a more sustainable global climate.  From terrorism and nuclear proliferation to fragile states and mass atrocities the 21st century is faced with unprecedented threats to international peace and security.  The responsibility of addressing each of these issues lies with the cooperation in the global community and the promotion of international law and economic stability.  Harmonizing the goals for the international community enables joint, proactive solutions to be taken for the flourishing of healthy, free and fair societies.  The various actors of states, regional and international organizations, and NGO’s each play influential roles in the handling of international affairs but the US has a unique role in giving shape to its outcome.  By creating dialogue and discussion on global conflicts, US foreign policy and current domestic measures on the local level plants a seed of proactive engagement for global solutions.

AID launched the Peace and Security initiative in 2007 to address the global issues that affect the peace and security of not only the US but greater international community which shapes the wellbeing of our local, state, and international wellbeing.  By engaging young people on the global issues that affect the lives of millions AID’s Peace and Security initiatives gives the resources necessary for students and young professionals to become informed advocates and activists to have a global impact.  AID hosts several events internationally including conferences, videoconferences, film screenings, and many other activities to ensure students’ awareness of the types of conflicts festering global prosperity and how correct prevention, maintenance, and post-conflict measures can be used to overcome the obstacles we currently face.
