GLOBAL HEALTH

Health is a basic need and a human right.

As defined by the World Health Organization, health is the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Every individual should have the right to this type of health. It is a fundamental building block for the development of individuals, communities and societies. Americans for Informed Democracy challenges you to act to protect the health of every individual on this planet.

This year's campaign:

Three billion young people aged 25 and younger - half of the world's population - face issues related to their sexual and reproductive health. Reproductive health is an often-overlooked but incredibly important component of our basic health needs.

People should have the right to:

  • decide freely and responsibly the number, spacing and timing of their children
  • have the information and means to do so (the above)
  • attain the highest stand of sexual and reproductive rights
    (ICPD, 1994)

We need to ensure equal access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and services in order to move closer to this vision. People's voices around the world demanding this equal access often go unheard by those who control funding and aid for sexual and reproductive health programs.

The time is ripe to advocate for improved access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and services. You can truly make a difference in this major effort!

Take Action:
