Relate, Create, Innovate-YOU in the World
Date: Thursday, July 26, 2007 Time: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm Location: Little Theatre, LaGuardia Community College 31-10 Thomson Ave, New York, NY (Click here for directions.)
The Collegiate Science and Technology Program (C-STEP), Americans for Informed Democracy (AID) and World Learning’s School for International Training (SIT) will host a one-day conference that will equip the next generation of global leaders to transform their international experiences into effective social action. More and more young leaders are having transformational educational experiences through study abroad or international exchange programs. These opportunities open young leaders' eyes to the global reality of a small and flat world. Young people return with a keen understanding of another culture and an awareness of how to walk across differences.
This conference will help young people translate these life-changing experiences into concrete action. It will help answer the burning questions that many young people have upon returning to their home country: What am I going to do with this understanding? How am I going to turn this experience into positive change?
Confirmed speakers include:
Carol Bellamy, President and CEO, World Learning; President, School for International Training; Former Executive Director, UNICEF
Susan Davis, Director of the Global Academy for Social Entrepreneurship and Vice President, Ashoka
Gillian Sorensen, Senior Advisor, United Nations Foundation, and former Assistant Secretary-General, United Nations
