Every school has a different process for registering a student organization, but we have templates for almost any requirements your school may have. The first step is finding out the requirements for your school, then you can use our templates to help fill those requirements:
1. Find out the requirements.
First off, you will want to find out how to set up an official student organization at your school. One way to do this is to go online to the student affairs page at your school and find out the requirements. If you cannot find this online, use this e-mail below to write to your Dean of Student Affairs.

Dear Dean of Student Affairs,
I am interested in starting a student chapter at INSERT UNIVERSITY of an organization called Americans for Informed Democracy (AIDemocracy). AIDemocracy is a non-partisan, student-led organization that seeks to raise global awareness on campuses and in the surrounding community. We will host mini-conferences, global videoconferences, documentary screenings, and more—all to get students and community residents talking about our country’s role in our increasingly interconnected world. We believe that the United States is at a historic moment in its role in the world. Global poverty, climate change, terrorism, and other global issues cross borders and require global solutions. We want to ensure that the U.S. uses this historic moment in its role in the world to work collaboratively with other countries to address these compelling and urgent global issues.
I believe that an AIDemocracy chapter could help to promote global understanding and mutual respect on campus. I also think that a non-partisan forum to discuss a variety of global issues is just what UNIVERSITY needs at the moment.
I am very excited about the idea of starting an AIDemocracy chapter. Do you know how might I start an AIDemocracy chapter, or who I should contact about this? Is their paperwork I need to fill out? Also, how might I apply for funding for our chapter?
Thanks so much for your time.
