Americans for Informed Democracy is seeking Global Citizenship Fellows who will play a key role in building, strengthening and promoting AIDemocracy’s innovative global leadership programs for high school and college students. This is an amazing opportunity for a budding leader who wants to expand his/her skills around global issues, leadership development and training. This is a semester or year-long virtual, volunteer position with a commitment of 3-5 hours/week.
Who we are:
Americans for Informed Democracy (AIDemocracy)’s vision is that every young person in the United States exercises their power to bring about a peaceful, healthy, just and sustainable world. Our mission is to educate, cultivate and mobilize a network of young people to take informed action around our individual and collective roles as global citizens. We are the only national youth network that takes a comprehensive approach to global issues, and we place equal emphasis on empowering young leaders and inspiring action to build a better world.
The Global Citizenship Fellow will play a key role building our cutting-edge curriculum and leadership in this space. Specific responsibilities will include:
1. Thought leadership
a. Positioning AIDemocracy as a leader in the broader conversation around global citizenship. This will include researching the latest thinking around these issues, and writing timely and engaging analysis for our blog, website and other outlets.
b. Developing and building partnerships with leaders, partners and allies.
2. Curriculum development
a. Refining our global citizenship curriculum, including content on leadership, advocacy, communications, the global system (UN, G8, NATO, etc.) and key global challenges (climate change, violent extremism, global poverty, etc.).
b. Building out modules, activities and partnerships to deliver the content in fun and engaging ways, including via our social media platforms.
3. Program development
a. Supporting the rapid expansion of our popular summer program.
b. Supporting the expansion of our business plan and long-term vision.
c. Supporting recruitment for the 2013 season.
We will recruit multiple Fellows, and most likely divide these responsibilities up between the group. Applicants should indicate whether they have an interest in all or some of the functions above.
This is a virtual, volunteer position. Fellows will contribute approximately 3-5 hours/week through July 2013. They will have the option to extend through the 2013-14 academic year.
Skills and qualifications needed:
This is an exciting position for a proven young leader who wants to take his/her skills to the next level. Applicants should be comfortable with discussing global issues, and have an interest in either leadership development or global education. Candidates should be comfortable working independently in a virtual environment. The biggest thing we’re looking for are people who are excited, want to learn, believe in our mission, and can make this commitment.
Send a statement of interest and resume to email@example.com. Applications accepted on a rolling basis; we will fill the position as soon as possible.
