Americans for Informed Democracy is a national student network taking action around US global engagement. We are recruiting Issue Analysts, who will lead conversations and engagement around key global challenges. This is a year-long, virtual, volunteer position that offers the amazing opportunity to build writing, analytical, communications and outreach skills.
Who we are: Americans for Informed Democracy (AIDemocracy)’s vision is that every young person in the United States exercises their power to bring about a peaceful, healthy, just and sustainable world. Our mission is to educate, cultivate and mobilize a network of young people to take informed action around our individual and collective roles as global citizens. We are the only national youth network that takes a comprehensive approach to global issues, and we place equal emphasis on empowering young leaders and inspiring action to build a better world.
Responsibilities: The Issue Analysts choose and monitor a key global issue, and bring conversation around that issue to our national student network. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Identifying specific content / angles / “beats”.
- Writing at least 3 blog posts/month, tying these issues to current events, and broader conversations around the power of youth and the US role in the world.
- (Optional) Contributing to our bi-annual journal, profiling global citizenship and youth engagement around US foreign policy.
The Details: This is a virtual, volunteer position. Analysts are expected to write at least 3 posts/month through Jul 2013.
Skills and Qualifications Needed: This is an exciting position for someone who wants to build valuable writing, analytical, communications and outreach skills. Applicants do not need prior experience, nor expertise on the issues. You’ll gain both through this position. The biggest thing we’re looking for are people who are excited, want to learn, believe in our mission, and can make this commitment.
