We are seeking Network Coordinators who will play a key leadership role in our student-led network. This is a year-long, virtual, volunteer position that offers the amazing opportunity to build leadership, organizing, campaigning and communications skills.
Who we are:
Americans for Informed Democracy (AIDemocracy)’s vision is that every young person in the United States exercises their power to bring about a peaceful, healthy, just and sustainable world. Our mission is to educate, cultivate and mobilize a network of young people to take informed action around our individual and collective roles as global citizens. We are the only national youth network that takes a comprehensive approach to global issues, and we place equal emphasis on empowering young leaders and inspiring action to build a better world.
Responsibilities:
Network Coordinators will work with our Student Advisory Board to identify strategy for the year, and taking the lead in implementing it. Coordinators will work on a team of 3-4 Coordinators, and will also provide hands-on training and support our four student teams: blogging, social media, actions and journal. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Planning and implementing network strategy. Work with the Advisory Board to identify objectives and workplan for the following: building our community, branding/marketing, fundraising and evaluation.
- Supporting student teams leading our work around social media, actions / campaigns, our bi-annual journal, and blogging. This involved helping teams craft work plans, complete activities, and measure success.
- Overseeing network communications, ensuring that team members have the information, connections and resources they need to get their jobs done.
- Serving as friend, mentor and adviser to student team members, providing constant encouragement and excitement about our vision.
The Details:
This is a virtual, volunteer position. Coordinators will contribute 15-20 hours/month throughout 2013. Timing may be flexible, for example if you’re studying abroad during the spring or fall and cannot meet the full year-long commitment.
