Outreach and Communications Guru

Americans for Informed Democracy is a national student network mobilizing young people around US global engagement. We are calling for applications from inspired, globally conscious individuals who are interested in a dynamic and fast-paced internship that will give them a hands-on introduction to student organizing. This is a tremendous opportunity to work with a dynamic youth organization to ensure that young people’s voices are heard on their campuses and in the halls of Congress and the White House! AIDemocracy is unique in that we involve interns at every level of the organization, from programs to strategic planning.The Outreach and Communications Guru will help us build and communicate with our nation-wide network of student activists.Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining, promoting and developing content for our website, blog, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Flickr accounts
  • Supporting other outreach efforts, including issue and advocacy training programs and activist toolkits
  • Helping refine and implement our communications and outreach strategies
  • Recruiting and supporting new AIDemocracy members and chapters, both online and in person

Skills and Qualifications

  • Great verbal and written communications skills
  • A good understanding of social media
  • Must like meeting, inspiring and working with others
  • Experience maintaining or building websites a plus!
  • Experience supporting campus events or campaigns for global justice a plus!
  • Strong interest in international development, environment, peace and security, and health issues a plus!

This is a part or full-time position (15-40 hours/week), depending on availability. Term is flexible, but must be for at least four months. Start date is also flexible, but no later than January 23. Position is virtual, although there will be weekly staff meetings and many other opportunities to engage with staff and students. This is an unpaid position, although Intern will receive numerous training opportunities.
