Sometimes, talking about the hard issues pays off, especially if you do it by videoconference.

Americans for Informed Democracy has awarded Charlie Albanetti, president of the University at Albany chapter, an Outstanding Student Leader award for arranging superior town hall events this year.

In the past several months, the university has hosted symposiums on U.S.-Asian relations, the International Criminal Court and the crisis in Darfur. The events have brought together more than 7,500 students for videoconference debates, documentary screenings and young global leader summits.
