Ronald joined the AIDemocracy team in November 2011 as the Business and Program Development Fellow. His first exposure working with NGOs began in his gap-year prior to college, when he served as a Project Manager for Greater DC Cares, organizing service activities for volunteers in the DC-metro area, as well as a student mentor and fundraising aid for Project Northstar. As an undergraduate student at the University of Virginia, he matched his interests in soul-seeking and organizational leadership & development with majors in Philosophy and Government and a minor in Religious Studies. It was at UVA wherein he cultivated a passion for developing organizations in both size and influence through his leadership involvements in multiple levels of student government and service organizations.
While at the University, Ronald served as an active advocate for social issues and civic engagement, focusing particularly on access to education on national and global scales, racial/ethnic social and political equalities, and positive male identity development (and its effect on women’s reproductive and economic rights). He joined AIDemocracy because he recognizes the influence that young people can have on molding U.S. foreign policy, and wishes to explore the ways in which digital/new media, social networks, and technology are utilized by youth to incite social movements in the developing world. Prior to joining AIDemocracy, Ronald worked a short stint as a Humor Writer for a popular daily deal website. In his free time, he enjoys doing [new and interesting activities].
