Joel Organista

Joel was born in Mexico City, Mexico and currently is a student at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City. He received the International Baccalaureate diploma in high school and is creating his own major, Social Justice in Education. He is the main facilitator and community organizer for the National Student Bill of Rights for All Youth Movement. Joel has produced a film documentary titled “Red Flags: Racism and Ethnic Stereotyping in Schools” and also wrote his senior year he wrote a paper titled “Closing the Academic Achievement Gap Between the Latino and White Students at West High School.” He ballrooms dances, is a Black Belt in Karate, and loves to draw with color pencils.
